Abstract:Aineen emergentit mikrotason rakenteelliset ominaisuudet ovat kutkuttaneet tieteilijöitä nykyaikaisen kiinteän aineen fysiikan alkupäivistä alkaen. Epäjärjestys vaikuttaa aineen mikroskooppiseen rakenteeseen: topologiset virheet, kuten vakanssit ja kiderajapinnat voivat muuttaa kokonaisvaltaisesti sekä aineen elektroniset että rakenteelliset ominaisuudet. Valmistusprosessi – joista kuuluisin on kenties sulasta aineesta jähmettäminen – määrittää aineen mikrorakenteen. Jähmettymisprosessin syvä ymmärtäminen mahdollistaa syntyvän materiaalin erityislaatuisten ominaisuuksien säätelyn. |
